Wag the Wacom

So, at last the Tablet meets me. And since I always have to complain about something...
Damn right handed people. The Tablet is cool and all, but I got the Wacom Intuous 4x6 and so, the buttons are located on the left. SO GO FIGURE...as I put my hand over it the zoom icon freaks out. o_o"
What the hell...I wish they were on the RIGHT side. But things HAVE to be more difficult for me. However, I'm still getting used to drawing on it, nothing interesting (I mean good) has come up yet. I got my boyfriend one aswell for X-mas. Since he is psycho boy, he'll probably figure it out first. And he doesn't know how to draw on paper. But he'll end up doing something amazing just to piss me off :P Yesterday I took a 20 minute nap and when I woke up, there was almost a freakin' Bob Marley ready. Hunf.
By the way, this is a marker ilustration with a little photoshop.

Blue Lady

This is pretty old, I did it in high school, behind some chemistry paper...
I gave it a little twist, I'm just learning to use photoshop for these things, so give me some credit. This week was frentic, I sewed all the cat art thing for class, and found out I was the only one that had something done by now...at least now, I don't have to worry so much about this anymore, I can foccuss on the other crap.
On the 4th I give my last presentation on a class, so that ends 'bout now. Thank God I'm on my way to my, so very nice vacation. Well, I've been so weird latelly, I don't even know what to write.

Magic Markers

This is a design for a self assignment... The story is...

She is supposed to be a girl who moved to Africa due to her parents being wildlife photographers. They accidentally witness the local police engaging in the slaughter of a friendly tribe, which later would result in their death. Hiding away, she is able to run and escape a tragic death of her own at the age of 8. Now, she is faced with the struggle that is survive in the wild and, at the same time, hide out from the people who killed her parents...

But she is not alone! She found shelter and confort with an abandoned Zebra and an old Lioness as friends...And a family friend, a member of the tribe where she stayed, who watched her grow and taught her everything she knows about the Savannah...things she will soon discover to be what saves her everyday.

The drawing was done in markers and pencils...

Sexy Legging

With a little photoshop and pencils, this is the improoved old drawing I did for a class last year.
I am starting to worry about my November. The absolute worse month of the year. That is because in my university, all the assignments due to the exact same day or week, and there are about seven classes which require some sort of hand-made crap. So, put together a whole lot of crappy jobs and you get a big pile of crap in the end. But why crap? Caroline, are you such and idiot that you can't dedicate to your work? Bull crap.
Uhun I do, but come on...
*I have to sew 5 types of cats in fabrics and put together a Cat Art (toy art) line of products
*Think of a presentation for the big issue about Traditional x Digital illustration and think of a problem for it and a way to solve it
*Group up a portfolio for a computer graphics class - God knows how
*Interview a bunch of people asking how the hell do they open cans - yes, cans, metal ones - and analyze the ergonomy of the damn thing, by the way, cans are dangerous...
* Seek how diapers are made, and how other way it could be made, so it's ecologically friendly or cost free for the producer
*Design three types of furniture for boys
*And learn about God and his etics and how we all should live in harmony...because it's a catholic university and I am obliged to do it.

* AND in the end suck all the rest of creativity I have and draw stuff for my art teacher...
Sooooo, how the hell is all this going to end up looking like something fell out of a catalog?

Having said that, I guess I don't have to add anything to it.

Bear climbing

So, I got sick this week, and as things couldn't be any worse, all my assignments were due to the exact same week. I had to make a presentation with a sore throat and a very obstructed nose - you can imagine the sound of my voice during the presentation...

I had a job interview on friday (maybe it's what made me sick after all) downtown, and it was raining as hell. The good thing is, I got the chance to take pictures of other stuff I was putting off.

This is one of them...

I really like this one, It's really fun and cute, just like black bear cubs, when they don't eat you :)

It's coloured pencils basically and I just took the "bad photographer" look in photoshop and added the fading of the sky...pretty simple.

I wish to invest in Concept Design now, to gather a nice portfolio for this company Seagullsfly, that has a very cool Concept crew...

This Jaguar was done in a friend's Sketchbook. It's funny actually, because he had this notebook with all types of paper in it, and he'd draw in it and ask for friends to draw aswell. So, I took a look at it and thought it was really cool, and I asked if I could draw too. He said - Sure, pick a page that isn't reserved. Reservation? YEAH. The pages were marked with names, reserveing that type of paper...

I didn't really care about it, since I didn't know what I was planning on drawing, so I took it home to think. Going through the non-reserved pages I spotted the last one, in fact, the back of the notebook, a type of cardboard thick brown surface. I thought: Well, nothing marked here. Let me go crazy. And I did.

This Jaguar was done in Colored Pencils, Sepia, Ink and some Dry Pastels. In the end, It wasn't puuuurfect, but, I was pleased. So I took a photo of it and here it is...

I guess the original is still in that sketchbook. God knows where.

This is another Kitty fun picture. I really like these Tabby cats, stripes are interesting in any animal. To say another weird fact, I love drawing trees...branches...not leaves though. o.Ô

Sorry for the delay in posting, things are kinda crazy lately. I hate having to burst my brain into stuff completely different than drawing, but I've been trying to make good use of any opportunity I get to put my skills at test. At least the Gouache color scales are usefull - ugh, dear God - although the teacher seems to think it's more important to cut and glue them better than the painting itself. Whatever. All I know is that Tallens can't produce enough Gouache to cover up my mistakes and not at all economic way of using it. So, until I have room for fresh air, I'll post the old stuff. Surprisingly this is another Big Cat study I did, one of the first ones I did in Colored Pencils - which I do not like to use, just to look at the organized box of pencils. I've been going through a Identity Crisis in the last year and half, It's about time I realized what the hell I want before robots start to illustrate. And now that I've discovered that my astrological ascendent is Gemini, my lack of progress does not surprise me.

My Cat

This is a fun illustration of my pet cat Cher, she is a 7 year old Persian Tortie. My cats have great personallity and are very fun to watch. I went to a Cat exposition and took some pics, I'll select some to put here later. Well, now that my classes have started, things will get complicated. At least I have a Gouache class on tuesdays and some practice will rise from it. Thank God.

Bird

I usually don't draw birds, so I really had no idea how to it when I got assigned at school to do so. It was fun to do the feathers and details on the face, however, I still found it hard.

This is one of the Bird studies. Black and White pencil drawings are my favorites...

Travel

Since I was abroad this week, I tought it would be nice if I shared some of the views of the landscapes I visited. It was a short trip, but lots of photos were taken!
I visited 3 of the 26 Beaches in Búzios-Rio de Janeiro. There was great sun, and the city wasn't crowded at all, which is pretty unusuall this time of year, these beaches were:

Then, about 20 min from Búzios (maybe not, I have no sense of the time or distance), we stopped in Cabo Frio - Rio de Janeiro, where we visited the largest and most popular beach there called Praia do Forte:

It was a good trip, despite the 8 reais (almost 4 US dollars) worth of parking in Praia da Tartaruga, which is just absurd, since usually we pay 2 reais. And in Cabo Frio there wasn't much sun to make the photos more beautiful, but it had the most transparent waters and white sands of them all. And the sea-eagles were curious enough to fly by you and check you out...It was my favorite one! :)

Hell's Bathroom

These are a few of the initial concepts for the bathroom line of products. We went in and out of ideas, since there weren't any restrictions relating material or shape. Sometimes, with such a wide range of proposal it becomes more complicated to work around it. The chosen line I posted before here, though a lot of details changed...It was nice to play with the markers...

Well, I still got an 8.0 for it. But I'm never happy. Hehehe.

The Cheetah Girl

Not to break tradition, this is a Cheetah study I made for a Gouache painting. The painting itself is coming out...not as fast as the cheetah though... Now that I am on school break, things will speed up a bit.

Although I am still trying to find some sense in what genre of illustration I want to dedicate myself to, I'll go practicing on the way...

That is because, unfortunately, patience is not the biggest of my virtudes - you know, it gets shadowed under my anxiety. I'm a good person though. Believe me. My teacher will try to convince you otherwise, but don't believe him.

So, I'll go taking photos of myself to help out. Because there's no one better to pose than the person that came up with it in the first place. Soon I'll post something here of, well, me.
